Floating Solar Farm (pictured above) in November 2023, under an exclusive collaboration between CCK Town Council and Sembcorp.<\/p><p>This farm, one of the largest of its kind in the world, is in our rarely open for public visits.<\/p>\n<p>Keat Hong resident Leong Ai Kuen, felt a strong sense of pride in learning how much Singapore has invested in the green energy space and that one of the world\u2019s largest inland floating solar farms is located in the Republic.<\/p>\n<p>Installed over water, these solar panels have a higher energy yield compared to conventional systems installed on rooftops.<\/p>\n<p>For Delfinn Tan, a resident of Hong Kah North, it was heartening to know the panels did not have as large an impact on the ecology of the reservoir as she thought they would.<\/p>\n<p>As the farm is not open to the public, Keat Hong resident Sreeraj Choorakad said he was glad he managed to snag a seat on the tour.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEveryone should be interested in sustainability because we need to ensure that the Earth is still around for the next generations to come,\u201d said the engineer.<\/p>\n<p>On a smaller scale, residents said everyone can play a role by adopting more sustainable habits in his or her day-to-day lives.<\/p>\n<p>Delfinn does her bit by washing and recycling plastic containers for takeaway food, whereas Bukit Gombak resident Ng Chee Wee does his bit by taking the stairs instead of the lift to save electricity.<\/p>\n<p>He said it kills two birds with one stone by not only helping him stay fit but also go green.<\/p>\n<p>At the end of the visit, Delfinn summed up the experience for her fellow visitors by saying: \u201cThis was a unique opportunity for residents to come here and see one of the largest floating farms in Singapore. This farm, one of the largest of its kind in the world, is in our CCK Town. It was an eye-opening experience for the residents to see this farm up close and learn how it harnesses energy enough to power up some 16,000 four-room flats for one year! Residents were excited to get up close and personal to the floating solar farm, which is rarely open for public visits. Keat Hong resident Leong Ai Kuen, felt a strong sense of pride in learning how much Singapore has invested in the green energy space and that one of the world\u2019s largest inland floating solar farms is located in the Republic. Installed over water, these solar panels have a higher energy yield compared to conventional systems installed on rooftops. For Delfinn Tan, a resident of Hong Kah North, it was heartening to know the panels did not have as large an impact on the ecology of the reservoir as she thought they would. As the farm is not open to the public, Keat Hong resident Sreeraj Choorakad said he was glad he managed to snag a seat on the tour. \u201cEveryone should be interested in sustainability because we need to ensure that the Earth is still around for the next generations to come,\u201d said the engineer. On a smaller scale, residents said everyone can play a role by adopting more sustainable habits in his or her day-to-day lives. Delfinn does her bit by washing and recycling plastic containers for takeaway food, whereas Bukit Gombak resident Ng Chee Wee does his bit by taking the stairs instead of the lift to save electricity. He said it kills two birds with one stone by not only helping him stay fit but also go green. At the end of the visit, Delfinn summed up the experience for her fellow visitors by saying: \u201cThis was a unique opportunity for residents to come here and see one of the largest floating farms in Singapore. We are all happy and pleased to see Singapore doing more and more in the renewable energy space.\u201d Some of the lucky residents who snagged a seat on the tour.
